Over time, the Guathan adapted to the underworld, to the darkness as it shielded them from the bright fires of the surface. They evolved and adapted to subterranian life. Evenetually they lost the use of their sight, for it was not needed in darkness, and then children were born without eyes. And then children were born with fingertipped claws, not like nails but merely extensions of bone, plenty for digging. Then without hair. Without noses. Without ears. The Guathan became worse than the monsters from which they originally hid.
The prefix si' appears in all ethnic Guathan languages, though seldom is it used because the form is archaic. Simply, it means ruined. Thus, a Si'Guathan is a ruined or aberrant specimen.
Physical CharacteristicsOnly scattered reports have returned from the recesses of Enoja, where the Guathan once called home, but those reports claim the creatures appear nothing like their surface-dwelling cousins. They are long, perhaps tall if they stood often, reaching almost six feet. Enlongated, egg-shaped heads sit atop stout necks, their faces almost completely missing. A small mouth filled with tiny, sharp teeth opens from the bottom of the egg, which is mounted by thick, bony brow – the rest of the head is domed. The torso is thin, with strong muscles pulled tightly over the bone, and the Si'Guathan have two arms and two legs, just like any humanoid. However, their back is thick, like a carapace, and from the bulge extends six long tentacles, three on each side, reaching perhaps five feet in length. The tentacles are barbed on the flanks and end with teeth of some kind, sharp. Their skin is pale, like the color of buttermilk, and they have no hair.
SocietyDue to the dangerous nature of these creatures, no social information has been gathered about them save for the fact they travel in groups. Simply put, where there is on there is many more nearby.
